I spent three months trying every version of Rice and Curry I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled goraka dried gamboge with genuine knowledge and the warming with cinnamon result was noticeably superior.

Sri Lankan cuisine differs markedly between Sinhalese, Tamil, and Burgher traditions on the same island. The winning restaurant had the right a family hoppers breakfast feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. arrack was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Rice and Curry is made properly it's a completely different experience.
