Finding the best Semla in the city — a personal search
I spent three months trying every version of Semla I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled lingonberry with genuine knowledge and the delicately cured result was noticeably superior.
Swedish fika culture elevates the coffee break with pastries into a social institution. The winning restaurant had the right a Swedish smörgåsbord table feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. light lager was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Semla is made properly it's a completely different experience.
