I first ate Hallacas on a trip five years ago and have been searching for a version this good ever since. This restaurant finally delivered the fresh from avocado sauce quality I remembered. black beans caraotas was handled correctly — something most restaurants here get slightly wrong.

the arepa is Venezuela's daily bread — eaten at all meals in countless configurations. It was the a family hallacas making session at Christmas memory that I was really chasing and this recreated it. chicha de arroz was offered and brought the whole experience together. Some dishes are attached to a time and place. This one finally restored that attachment.
