First time trying Hallacas — completely converted

I had never tried Hallacas before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The fresh from avocado sauce taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. black beans caraotas is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.

The a Caracas arepera setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. the arepa is Venezuela's daily bread — eaten at all meals in countless configurations. My server recommended papelón con limón alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Hallacas. Outstanding first encounter.
