Gift that became an obsession — Tillandsia Bulbosa

Someone gave me Tillandsia Bulbosa as a birthday gift and I barely knew what it was. Two years later it's my most treasured plant and I've spent more time researching it than I'd care to admit.

The key discovery was shaking off excess water after soaking to prevent rot at the base — once that clicked, the plant transformed. flowers only once in a lifetime but produces offsetting pups after is what gets mentioned every time anyone visits. I keep it in a wire frame or macrame hanging display which works perfectly. most vigorous growth in warm humid summer months is when I understand why this plant has such devoted followers. base rot from water not drying within four hours of soaking is the one ongoing challenge but it's worth the effort.
