Pest battle with Tillandsia Caput-Medusae — and how I won

I had a serious problem with scale insects or mealybug in the leaf bases on my Tillandsia Caput-Medusae earlier this year. Caught it late and had to work hard to bring the plant back. The experience was frustrating but educational.

Now that it's healthy again I can fully appreciate flowers only once in a lifetime but produces offsetting pups after, which is remarkable. I've repositioned it in a glass globe or terrarium with open ventilation and improved my attention to misting more frequently in hot dry indoor conditions. most vigorous growth in warm humid summer months was the proof that the plant had fully recovered — genuinely beautiful. Moral of the story: inspect regularly and catch problems early.
