Pest battle with Tillandsia Xerographica — and how I won
I had a serious problem with base rot from water not drying within four hours of soaking on my Tillandsia Xerographica earlier this year. Caught it late and had to work hard to bring the plant back. The experience was frustrating but educational.
Now that it's healthy again I can fully appreciate completely soil-free growth from atmospheric moisture and nutrients, which is remarkable. I've repositioned it in a wire frame or macrame hanging display and improved my attention to shaking off excess water after soaking to prevent rot at the base. reduced watering needed in cool winter months indoors was the proof that the plant had fully recovered — genuinely beautiful. Moral of the story: inspect regularly and catch problems early.
