Container growing Blue Flag Iris — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so an indoor water feature with appropriate species is my only option for Blue Flag Iris. It absolutely works — with the right attention to removing dying foliage in autumn before it rots and reduces water quality you can get excellent results in containers.
essential habitat and breeding ground for pond wildlife is fully achievable even in a pot. foliage die-back and pond tidying in autumn is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: frost damage on tender varieties left in shallow water. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
