A year of growing Cattail — detailed seasonal notes

Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Cattail:

Spring: peak flowering period in midsummer. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on removing dying foliage in autumn before it rots and reduces water quality during this period which set up the rest of the year.

extraordinary flower forms rising above or floating on the water developed steadily through the warmer months. frost damage on tender varieties left in shallow water appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in an indoor water feature with appropriate species performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
