I don't have a garden so a formal ornamental pond with clear water and reflections is my only option for Hornwort. It absolutely works — with the right attention to planting in aquatic baskets with specialist pond compost you can get excellent results in containers.

essential habitat and breeding ground for pond wildlife is fully achievable even in a pot. overwintering dormancy in the pond bed is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: blanketweed algae competing for nutrients in established ponds. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
