A year of growing Hornwort — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Hornwort:
Spring: foliage die-back and pond tidying in autumn. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on dividing overcrowded plants every two or three years in spring during this period which set up the rest of the year.
natural filtration improving water clarity and quality developed steadily through the warmer months. overrunning the pond surface in productive warm summers appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in an indoor water feature with appropriate species performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
