I don't have a garden so a stream edge or bog garden is my only option for Pickerelweed. It absolutely works — with the right attention to removing dying foliage in autumn before it rots and reduces water quality you can get excellent results in containers.

natural filtration improving water clarity and quality is fully achievable even in a pot. overwintering dormancy in the pond bed is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: blanketweed algae competing for nutrients in established ponds. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
