Container growing Water Hyacinth — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a half-barrel water garden for a small patio is my only option for Water Hyacinth. It absolutely works — with the right attention to dividing overcrowded plants every two or three years in spring you can get excellent results in containers.
extraordinary flower forms rising above or floating on the water is fully achievable even in a pot. peak flowering period in midsummer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: overrunning the pond surface in productive warm summers. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
