Six months with Black Bamboo — what I actually learned
I brought Black Bamboo home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser in early spring — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.
I grow it in a focal point specimen in a large container and the position has been ideal. rapid establishment and fast vertical growth is what keeps drawing me back to it. new shoot emergence in spring growing at remarkable speed was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: die-back after mass flowering which occurs once per lifetime caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
