Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Buddha Belly Bamboo:

Spring: foliage refresh as older leaves shed in late winter. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on watering heavily in the first season to establish the root system during this period which set up the rest of the year.

rapid establishment and fast vertical growth developed steadily through the warmer months. new canes not reaching full height in the first year appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a windbreak planting in an exposed position performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
