A year of growing Fargesia Bamboo — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Fargesia Bamboo:
Spring: cane hardening and leafing out through summer. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser in early spring during this period which set up the rest of the year.
rapid establishment and fast vertical growth developed steadily through the warmer months. new canes not reaching full height in the first year appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a privacy screen along a boundary fence performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
