Beginner success with Giant Bamboo — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Giant Bamboo. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to removing the oldest and most congested canes each spring.

I grow mine in a privacy screen along a boundary fence which is working really well. rapid establishment and fast vertical growth was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. best container division and replanting in spring has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring die-back after mass flowering which occurs once per lifetime, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
