I planted Golden Bamboo at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. die-back after mass flowering which occurs once per lifetime didn't help matters. Once I understood watering heavily in the first season to establish the root system things improved substantially.

beautiful sound of canes moving in wind is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a poolside or water feature surrounding planting it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. new shoot emergence in spring growing at remarkable speed redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
