Three things I wish someone had told me before growing Golden Bamboo

After growing Golden Bamboo for over a year here is what I'd tell a beginner.

First: removing the oldest and most congested canes each spring is not optional — it's the foundation everything else depends on. Second: new canes not reaching full height in the first year will happen and you should know how to handle it before it does. Third: a focal point specimen in a large container genuinely matters — the right position unlocks exceptional tensile strength in the cane structure in a way a poor position never will. cane hardening and leafing out through summer is the payoff for getting all of this right. It's worth every bit of effort.
