Experienced grower's notes on Heavenly Bamboo
I've been growing plants seriously for over fifteen years and Heavenly Bamboo remains a reliable favourite. For anyone starting out: the most critical thing is removing the oldest and most congested canes each spring. Everything else follows from that.
new canes not reaching full height in the first year is the challenge that trips up most beginners and some experienced growers too. I've been growing mine in a poolside or water feature surrounding planting for three seasons now and the results are consistently good. exceptional tensile strength in the cane structure is what makes it worth coming back to year after year. best container division and replanting in spring is when I show it off — it earns its place fully then.
