Beginner success with Lucky Bamboo — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Lucky Bamboo. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to removing the oldest and most congested canes each spring.

I grow mine in a Japanese or contemporary minimalist garden design which is working really well. year-round evergreen screening and architectural presence was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. new shoot emergence in spring growing at remarkable speed has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring running bamboo spreading beyond its intended boundary, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
