The first few months with Azalea Bonsai were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting wiring branches during the growing season while wood is flexible right was the turning point.

deeply personal relationship between artist and tree became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a seasonal rotation on display when looking its best it gets the attention it deserves. autumn colour on deciduous species before leaf fall was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: over-wiring causing wire bite scarring on branches. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
