I don't have a garden so a Japanese-inspired garden display with gravel and stone is my only option for Cherry Blossom Bonsai. It absolutely works — with the right attention to watering daily in summer as bonsai pots dry out fast you can get excellent results in containers.

seasonal change including blossom, foliage colour, and bare winter silhouette is fully achievable even in a pot. autumn colour on deciduous species before leaf fall is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: spider mite and scale in stressful growing conditions. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
