Gift that became an obsession — Ficus Bonsai

Someone gave me Ficus Bonsai as a birthday gift and I barely knew what it was. Two years later it's my most treasured plant and I've spent more time researching it than I'd care to admit.

The key discovery was watering daily in summer as bonsai pots dry out fast — once that clicked, the plant transformed. seasonal change including blossom, foliage colour, and bare winter silhouette is what gets mentioned every time anyone visits. I keep it in a dedicated display stand at eye level for appreciation which works perfectly. repotting temperate species in early spring before buds break is when I understand why this plant has such devoted followers. root bound decline from leaving in the same pot too long is the one ongoing challenge but it's worth the effort.
