Started Camassia at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Camassia at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. narcissus fly larvae tunnelling into the base of the bulb didn't help matters. Once I understood planting at three times the depth of the bulb things improved substantially.
wide range of flower forms, heights, and flowering times is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a container for a doorstep or patio display it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. summer bulbs like gladiolus and allium extending the season redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
