The unexpected joy of growing Crocus
I planted Crocus without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. some of the earliest colour in the garden after winter is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a cut flower garden for fresh indoor arrangements which is perfect for it. lifting and drying tender bulbs before autumn frosts was the thing I got lucky getting right early. summer bulbs like gladiolus and allium extending the season stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. squirrel and mouse predation on newly planted bulbs is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
