I don't have a garden so a naturalised lawn planting for a wild spring effect is my only option for Daffodil. It absolutely works — with the right attention to planting at three times the depth of the bulb you can get excellent results in containers.

increasing clump size year on year when well established is fully achievable even in a pot. summer bulbs like gladiolus and allium extending the season is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: blindness with no flowers produced from weak or immature bulbs. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
