I don't have a garden so a naturalised lawn planting for a wild spring effect is my only option for Hyacinth. It absolutely works — with the right attention to planting at three times the depth of the bulb you can get excellent results in containers.

some of the earliest colour in the garden after winter is fully achievable even in a pot. earliest crocuses and snowdrops emerging in late winter is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: narcissus fly larvae tunnelling into the base of the bulb. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
