Slow start but a stunning finish with Tulip
The first few months with Tulip were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting planting at three times the depth of the bulb right was the turning point.
increasing clump size year on year when well established became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a naturalised lawn planting for a wild spring effect it gets the attention it deserves. planting new bulbs in autumn for next year's display was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: squirrel and mouse predation on newly planted bulbs. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
