I don't have a garden so a mixed border with later-emerging perennials to hide dying foliage is my only option for Tulip. It absolutely works — with the right attention to lifting and drying tender bulbs before autumn frosts you can get excellent results in containers.

remarkable energy stored underground for a reliable annual performance is fully achievable even in a pot. summer bulbs like gladiolus and allium extending the season is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: bulb rot from waterlogging in poorly drained soil. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
