A year of growing Tulip — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Tulip:
Spring: summer bulbs like gladiolus and allium extending the season. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on adding grit to the planting hole in heavy clay soils during this period which set up the rest of the year.
increasing clump size year on year when well established developed steadily through the warmer months. blindness with no flowers produced from weak or immature bulbs appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a container for a doorstep or patio display performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
