Beginner success with Tulip — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Tulip. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to planting at three times the depth of the bulb.

I grow mine in a cut flower garden for fresh indoor arrangements which is working really well. some of the earliest colour in the garden after winter was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. planting new bulbs in autumn for next year's display has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring squirrel and mouse predation on newly planted bulbs, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
