Slow start but a stunning finish with Christmas Cactus

The first few months with Christmas Cactus were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting using pure mineral grit for drainage in the soil mix right was the turning point.

spectacular but brief blooms that can appear overnight became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in an outdoor container brought in for winter it gets the attention it deserves. complete dormancy in winter with no watering was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: slow growth frustration for impatient growers. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
