Beginner success with Golden Barrel — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Golden Barrel. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to protecting from frost below -5°C even for hardy varieties.

I grow mine in an outdoor container brought in for winter which is working really well. spectacular but brief blooms that can appear overnight was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. offsetting and pup production in spring has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring scarring from cold water splash on the skin, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
