The propagation success I didn't expect with Prickly Pear
I started with one Prickly Pear and now have four, all from propagation. The process is straightforward once you understand watering sparingly and only in the active growing season — something I picked up from trial and error rather than any guide.
I display them in a south-facing windowsill in full sun which shows off extremely long-lived with minimal intervention at its best. offsetting and pup production in spring is when they're most impressive. root rot from any waterlogging in winter has been my main challenge across all of them, but it's manageable now that I know what to look for. A genuinely generous plant if you let it be.
