Beginner success with Bird's Nest Fern — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Bird's Nest Fern. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to positioning in shade or dappled light away from direct sun.

I grow mine in a fern wall or vertical garden in a shaded courtyard which is working really well. exceptional ability to thrive in deep shade was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. early emergence from the soil before most other plants in spring has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring frond browning and crisp tips in dry air, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
