Bird's Nest Fern seasonal highlights — a year in review

I've been growing Bird's Nest Fern for a full year now and want to capture what each season offered. spectacular new crozier unfurling in spring was the clear high point — everything you're told about Bird's Nest Fern at that time of year is true. But the plant has something to offer in every season, which I hadn't expected.

dramatic unfurling fiddle-head growth in spring is consistent throughout the year, which is one of its real strengths. I've settled on a hanging basket in a cool bathroom as the ideal position. misting the fronds in dry centrally heated rooms was the lesson I took into next year. scale insects on the undersides of fronds is the only thing that interrupted the enjoyment.
