Container growing Bird's Nest Fern — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a shaded north-facing border under trees is my only option for Bird's Nest Fern. It absolutely works — with the right attention to positioning in shade or dappled light away from direct sun you can get excellent results in containers.
dramatic unfurling fiddle-head growth in spring is fully achievable even in a pot. frond dieback in winter for deciduous species is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: root bound stunting in pots left too long without repotting. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
