Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Bird's Nest Fern:

Spring: full lush canopy through summer. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on misting the fronds in dry centrally heated rooms during this period which set up the rest of the year.

dramatic unfurling fiddle-head growth in spring developed steadily through the warmer months. crown death from frost on tender varieties appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a shaded north-facing border under trees performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
