I don't have a garden so a woodland garden understorey planting is my only option for Lady Fern. It absolutely works — with the right attention to misting the fronds in dry centrally heated rooms you can get excellent results in containers.

dramatic unfurling fiddle-head growth in spring is fully achievable even in a pot. early emergence from the soil before most other plants in spring is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: crown death from frost on tender varieties. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
