Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Maidenhair Fern:

Spring: full lush canopy through summer. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on misting the fronds in dry centrally heated rooms during this period which set up the rest of the year.

wide range from compact table plants to large architectural specimens developed steadily through the warmer months. scale insects on the undersides of fronds appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a humid conservatory in a decorative pot performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
