After growing Maidenhair Fern for over a year here is what I'd tell a beginner.

First: misting the fronds in dry centrally heated rooms is not optional — it's the foundation everything else depends on. Second: root bound stunting in pots left too long without repotting will happen and you should know how to handle it before it does. Third: a humid conservatory in a decorative pot genuinely matters — the right position unlocks prehistoric elegance with delicate layered fronds in a way a poor position never will. spectacular new crozier unfurling in spring is the payoff for getting all of this right. It's worth every bit of effort.
