Slow start but a stunning finish with Staghorn Fern
The first few months with Staghorn Fern were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting removing dead fronds cleanly at the base in spring right was the turning point.
exceptional ability to thrive in deep shade became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a humid conservatory in a decorative pot it gets the attention it deserves. spectacular new crozier unfurling in spring was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: root bound stunting in pots left too long without repotting. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
