I nearly gave up on Apple Tree after three months of mediocre results. Then I focused properly on formative pruning in the first three years to build good structure and within a few weeks the difference was dramatic.

It now lives in a sheltered south or west-facing garden wall as an espalier and has genuinely transformed that spot. long productive lifespan of decades with good management is even more impressive in person than I expected from photos. fruitlet setting and development through summer was spectacular — worth every bit of patience. If you're struggling with yours, formative pruning in the first three years to build good structure is almost certainly the issue.
