Three things I wish someone had told me before growing Avocado Tree
After growing Avocado Tree for over a year here is what I'd tell a beginner.
First: thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size is not optional — it's the foundation everything else depends on. Second: late frost damage to blossom in exposed positions will happen and you should know how to handle it before it does. Third: a sheltered south or west-facing garden wall as an espalier genuinely matters — the right position unlocks dual ornamental and productive value in a garden in a way a poor position never will. winter pruning while the tree is dormant is the payoff for getting all of this right. It's worth every bit of effort.
