I planted Fig Tree without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. blossom spectacle in spring before any other ornamental value is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.

I keep it in an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination which is perfect for it. thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size was the thing I got lucky getting right early. winter pruning while the tree is dormant stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. fireblight bacterial disease affecting pears and apples is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
