A year of growing Lemon Tree — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Lemon Tree:
Spring: winter pruning while the tree is dormant. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size during this period which set up the rest of the year.
dual ornamental and productive value in a garden developed steadily through the warmer months. biennial bearing producing a heavy crop every other year appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a large half-barrel container on a sunny patio performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
