Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Mango Tree
People describe Mango Tree as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. checking and adjusting tree ties and stakes annually needs consistent attention and codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest can undermine progress quickly if ignored.
Where Mango Tree is genuinely underrated is the beauty. blossom spectacle in spring before any other ornamental value is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a specimen tree as a garden focal point and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. winter pruning while the tree is dormant is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
