Mango Tree is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, long productive lifespan of decades with good management makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination which suits it well. Learning about thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size has been essential. winter pruning while the tree is dormant is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
