The propagation success I didn't expect with Plum Tree
I started with one Plum Tree and now have four, all from propagation. The process is straightforward once you understand thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size — something I picked up from trial and error rather than any guide.
I display them in a specimen tree as a garden focal point which shows off blossom spectacle in spring before any other ornamental value at its best. fruitlet setting and development through summer is when they're most impressive. fireblight bacterial disease affecting pears and apples has been my main challenge across all of them, but it's manageable now that I know what to look for. A genuinely generous plant if you let it be.
